PAINTING GARAGE!!

Well, we were going to take a trip to Copper Harbor this week, and then we decided that we really should paint the garage. It has need to be painted for quite sometime.

So, today Car put scaffoling up so we can paint the back of the garage (so he can paint the back of the garage). I need to start scraping the old paint. When the back gets done (that is the hardest part) the rest of the job will go fast! It is suppose to be in the 90's this next week! That figures!

Will let you know how we are doing!

Stay cool!

Gas 1.17 a gallon

This was taken on August 3, 1995. Dad was celebrating his 80th birthday! I will keep searching for the 1.09 gas time frame.
Pictures are worth their weight in gold! How fun to pull out old pictures.

Keep watching for more important information on gas prices!

Lazy Days of Summer

Sunday, August 24
Carl and I enjoyed a nice breakfast out this morning. Then we came home and mowed the yard and then I baked zucchini bread.
Today is a cooler day and more enjoyable day if you are busy working in the yard.
Like Carl and Sadie were doing today! Sadie decided she wanted to ride with Carl on the tractor to mow the back yard! Can you believe it? She always acted like she was afraid of the tractor! Go figure!
Yep, summer is coming to a close, on our ride to Charlevoix last night we saw many trees turning colors! I think it is too soon, but you know it is almost September!
School starting, football and volley ball games and tournaments! Wow that will keep kids and parents busy for awhile.
We visited Richard and Linda Oleary last night, we had a bite to eat and looked at pictures of their trip to Banff and Jasper and our trip to Alaska. After all was said and done, the dogs needed to go out, they are dog sitting their son's dog, Greta, a very nice shepard mix, well, she went out first and low and behold she came nose to nose to a skunk hiding under the porch at Oleary's. Poor Greta had to sleep in the garage last night! Anyone out there know of any good skunk cleaner?
Tonight we had a campfire and enjoyed a little corn hole! The Kassels came over to enjoy the campfire, they threw the football, enjoyed some somemores! What great times to remember as we go ahead in this world!
Have a great week and enjoy every minute!

Summer into fall

Well, I have always said this: As soon as Harbor Days is over, it is fall! The morning air feels like fall. At 5:45 when I go out for my 7 mile walk the air seems to be changing!

I saw a couple trees changing color already! Soon, the air will be getting a lot cooler, I have been walking in darkness in the morning and soon when we walk in the evening it will be getting dark! That is fall!

I am in traning for the 1/2 Marathon in Florida in January! This time I know what to expect so I really have to train hard! I received a couple good fast, race walking CD's to help me along.
I am bound and determined to do a good job this time, not that I didn't before, I will be ready this time! Of course I have a good long distance coach to help me along, Thank you Amy! I wish she lived closer, she really is a good coach! She is a good kid.

So, I will keep you updated on how I am doing in this training period.

Have a great day!

HAPPY HARBOR DAYS 2008

We had a great Harbor Days this year. Rick and Lori arrived Tuesday with their trailer and family. Amy arrived on Wednesday night (midnight)!

We have a full filled weekend of fun.
Saturday morning was the Harbor 10 K run. Amy and I partcipated in that run. Amy and I walked and ran. We made it just under the wire...1 hr and 29 min! I don't think the association was very happy, because we were the last ones to go over the finish line. Oh well, we made it in the alotted time. We had fun but it was hard! Amy is a good coach! I need her!
We had a picnic for some friends and family on Saturday. We had some pulled pork and fried chicken and corn and loads of other stuff! Played some corn hole! Then we all hiked down to our favorite place to watch the fantastic fireworks display that Elk Rapids put on again this year! It was incredible this year! The best ever.
Then it is Sunday and everyone leaves! Sad time for Mom and Dad. Everyone goes back to get ready for school and work. Another summer comes to an end! It certainly is a sad time! We now look forward to fall and maybe a trip to the East coast!
We can dream.....
Have a good August!
