Wekiva Falls

Sorry pictures won't upload today.

Here is a little history on Wekiva Falls Resort.

In the early 1970’s an application, and plans to construct a marina and campground was submitted to Lake County for approval. The natural spring, which was Robert R. Shell of Ft. Myers swam in as a boy, was shown these original plans. As a condition of approval, Lake County required the spring flow be terminated while dredging the prososed Wekiva Canoe Creek marina basin, to prevent turbid water from entering the Wekiva River. The land owner compiled with this requirement by having well drillers drive two large casings into the spring vents, each with a control valve. Water cascading from these tall pipes was responsible for the “Wekiva Falls” name.

Wekiva Falls Resort has a lot of history.

For those who are interested in history that is all about Wekiva Falls. It is a pretty place.

My cousin Nick and his wife Pat's daughter and son-in-law, Gary and Kathy are the new owners of Wekiva Falls Resort. They have 2 children Gary and Heidi. The two kids with guidance from their parents are running the resort. There has been a lot of new construction, updating electric and getting the resort in order so it can flourish.

The lots are large. Mt. Dora is only a few miles away, and close by is
Sorrento, with Malls, etc. A lot of potential!

We wish the best!
